Product photography in Mendoza: how we create content for wineries and brands
What it means to do product photography properly in Mendoza. Art direction, set design and retouching for wineries, regional brands and gastronomy projects that need to compete nationally and internationally.

A product photo can be many things. It can be a flat record that fills a slot in an e-commerce grid, or it can be a piece that organizes a brand's entire visual universe. The difference isn't in the camera. It's in how the image is thought through before the button is pressed.
In Mendoza, that gap matters more than in other markets. Wineries compete with labels arriving from all over the world. Regional brands have to win attention against competitors backed by international campaign budgets. Gastronomy projects sell experience as much as product. Taking product photography seriously in Cuyo isn't an aesthetic indulgence. It's a condition for being in the conversation.
What "properly made" product photography looks like
We start with the boring part, which is the part that changes the result: art direction. Defining before the shoot what story each frame tells, what textures work with the brand, what palette holds the full line together, what styling decisions keep continuity across a fifty-shot session. Without that prep layer, what you get is a clean but anonymous catalog.
Next comes set design. Decorating isn't enough in product photography: you build contexts that give meaning to what you're selling. A lone bottle against white is information. The same bottle with the right shadow, its cork, a poured glass and a tablecloth texture behind it starts to become desire. Small change in production, enormous change in commercial performance.
And finally, retouching. The photo leaves the set in one state, and ends in another. Post work (edge cleanup, color, balance, fine composites) is what separates an amateur image from a piece usable in campaigns, packaging or press. It's not an extra, it's part of the product.
The Mendoza market
Mendoza has a particularity: the quality of what's produced here is already at an international level, but the imagery often lags behind. There are wineries with wines that win awards abroad and still show ten-year-old photography. Olive oil brands, natural cosmetics, craft beer and regional gastronomy with excellent product and visual communication that doesn't keep up.
That's where Sun Factory Cuyo comes in. The idea is to make product photography built to compete outside, not just for the local catalog.
How we work
The prep starts well before shoot day. We send a brief, we look at references together, we define the tone, the number of shots, the delivery formats (social, e-commerce, press, packaging). On shoot day the set is built, the crew is stable, the art direction is clear. Then, serious post, with files delivered ready to use.
Local photography direction is led by Flor Groppa, Mendoza photographer specializing in product, gastronomy and wineries. That guarantees point of view and real knowledge of the market.
